Saint Elizabeth has announced the release of a ground-breaking new resource focused on client-centred care. This resource provides practitioners, policy makers and the public with an unprecedented synthesis of literature focused on client-centred care. The project, Client-Centred Care: Future Directions for Policy and Practice in Home and Community Care,is based on a comprehensive literature review conducted by theSaint Elizabeth Care to Know Centre (CTKC), the knowledge exchange arm of Saint Elizabeth. Production of thereport and associated fact sheets were made possible through a financial contribution from Health Canada.

“This report, developed by Saint Elizabeth, succeeds in illuminating the challenges, opportunities and strategies needed to achieve a client-centered approach, thereby enabling the advancement of evidence-based care at home and in the community,” says Carol McWilliam, Professor, School of Nursing, the University of Western Ontario.

Saint Elizabeth has also developed an online, searchable inventory of resources, programs and publications related to client and family-centred care, as well as three case studies that demonstrate how individual-centred approaches to care can be implemented in the home and community setting.

We gratefully acknowledge the members of the project National Advisory Committee, whose  commitment, support and guidance throughout was invaluable: Carol McWilliam, Cheryl Cott, Kathy Kastner, Kevin Reel, Nadine Henningsen, Sherry Dupuis, Vaughan Glover, and the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation.
