It’s that time of year again: As we witness the thermostat falling, and watch the leaves fall from the trees, let’s think about the one thing we really don’t want to fall . . . ourselves!
Consider these tips to help avoid winter falls:
- Start with your feet: proper winter footwear is key. Select footwear with a deep tread and rubber slip-resistant soles.
- Know your environment: ice, snow, and uneven surfaces are culprits of many slip, trip and fall injuries. Sunglasses are essential to help cut glare. Use salt, sand or kitty litter to create traction by spreading them on icy areas.
- Take your time: Rushing is a primary factor in slip and fall injuries. To help prevent falls, give yourself extra time and take small steps.
