Many women are shocked to learn that heart disease is our #1 health threat, killing more women than men each year, six times more women than breast cancer, and more women than all cancers combined. Over 80% of women have at least one major risk factor for heart disease. At this inspiring and interactive workshop at the University of Victoria, learn about heart attack symptoms that may surprise you, tests and treatments that could save you, personal lessons learned from two survivors to inspire you, as well as how to understand your own unique risk factors and important heart-healthy ways to address them.
Presenters: ROSE LOPETRONE, a former cardiac nurse and current heart patient, and CAROLYN THOMAS, heart attack survivor and winner of 'Our Bodies Ourselves' "2009 Women's Health Heroes" award. Both women are graduates of the 'WomenHeart Science & Leadership Symposium for Women With Heart Disease' at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota - the only Canadians ever invited to attend this prestigious community education cardiology training.
