Seniors Health Care Focus
First of all, I want to thank everyone for giving me the opportunity to participate in this important forum. I would like to suggest a new paradigm for Seniors Health Care and Active Aging.
I believe that there needs to be a re-focus for Health Care in Canada as it pertains to Seniors. In order to significantly improve the health of Seniors the focus should be more on preparing Seniors to live an active, creative, productive and useful life. Currently, most health practices in Canada appear to be preparing Seniors more to die instead of living longer. Yes, we need long-term care facilities across Canada that are available when Seniors really need these facilities. However; there is an alternative. I suggest that we should focus more on the physical, mental, social and spiritual readiness of Seniors that will enable them to work on extraordinary projects in Society around the World.
If we continue to ignore the upside potential of Seniors it's going to be a healthcare tragedy to see all of the upcoming Boomer generation as Seniors being isolated, unimportant, politically weak, socially discountable and economically insignificant and a burden on Health costs. We need to put a greater focus on Active Aging that will not only be benefical to the individual Senior but also to the Health Care Industry, by significantly reducing the total Health Care costs and empowering Seniors to live a healthy and prosperous retiremet life.
