For upcoming #IPChat, a suggested topic: How to effectively integrate and coordinate clinical staff with health program staff in a team setting (eg, nurses, NPs, physicians, dietitians, etc with health promoters, diabetes education staff, youth health program staff, and others).

Two topics to put forward:

1. How to ensure teams are consistent in their language, terminology in patient care (e.g. doc calls 'em bed sores, nurse calls 'em pressure ulcers, OT call's it wound-care)

2. How to ensure IP teams know what fellow team members 'do' (Many's the hcp prof I've met that doesn't know what OT,  Recreational Therapist or Physiatrist does)

  • Physician assistants
  • Dealing or managing with conflict
  • Leadership styles
  • Role clarity
  • Role overlap
  • Regulated vs. unregulated health care providers
  • Patient safety issues and how they're managed, examples can focus on: Falls; Medication Errors; Suicide Prevention
  • Nurse and Doctor relationships
  • Power in the workplace and in teams
  • Breaking down heirarchies
  • Medical Advisory Committees vs. Interprofessional Advisory Committees
  • What is the client's experience of "client-centred care"?
  • Is the patient in the interprofessional team?

I like these!  I really like any that will generate a bit of 'good controversy'. What about:

-Social media and IP?

-How social media can affect patient outcomes (do we know if it can?)

-Social Media and the interprofessional team

I guess I'm looking at topics that help to solidify CIHC as an 'expert' in this field as well so we can be seen as teachers of social media in this arena.
