(NC)—Living with Parkinson's hasn't dampened the spirit of Calgarian, Dan Sellers. Dan was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson's disease at 38 and has since become a model of positivity for people living with the condition. One way Dan demonstrates this positive attitude is by raising vital funds for Parkinson's each year through Parkinson SuperWalk.

Parkinson SuperWalk is a celebration of life, family and support—a celebration of living well in spite of Parkinson's.

“Living with Parkinson's can be a challenge,” says Dan. “But, regardless of your personal challenge, be it Parkinson's or something else, you need to set goals and take the time to enjoy the slower things in life.”

Having had to quit work due to a decline in his condition, Dan has taken up a number of other activities and explored new vocations.

“Studying for a second degree in Psychology and becoming actively involved with Parkinson Society Canada has allowed me to contribute to my community,” says Dan. “It's important for people living with Parkinson's to have a network of support. In addition to sharing the challenges, support groups are able to empower people to get on with it and move on with their lives.”

Finding inspiration from others, Dan participates in the annual Parkinson SuperWalk. Over the past four years he has raised over $40,000 for research and support programs.

More than 14,000 Canadians in over 90 communities from St. John's to Vancouver will take part in the Parkinson SuperWalk this September to celebrate people, like Dan, who battle life with Parkinson's every day and to share their victory over the challenges that living with Parkinson's presents. Their goal is to help Parkinson Society Canada reach this year's $3 million target.

Come out and make a difference to people with Parkinson's in your community. For more information about the Parkinson SuperWalk in your area, visit www.parkinsonsuperwalk.ca or call 1-800-565-3000.
