We reserve the right to review comments, content posts and forums and to remove any inappropriate submissions at our discretion.

What kinds of comments are suitable for Caretoknow.org?
We want to know how this information can help you, what is still missing, what does it all mean to you and how can we, collectively, generate new ideas that will change the way care is delivered.
We want your perspective to inspire, engage, challenge, debate, advocate and generally make our online community richer and more diverse.
What is and isn’t acceptable?
Partial lists of what is and is not unacceptable follow below. For the full list of unacceptable content please refer to our Terms of Use.
- Please keep your submissions relevant to the topic.
- We ask that you write in the first person.
- Be civil and respect your audience. Don’t use ethnic slurs, personal insults, obscenity, or engage in any conduct that would not be acceptable in the workplace. You should also show proper consideration for others’ privacy and for topics that may be considered objectionable or inflammatory.
- If you identify yourself as an employee of a particular organization, ensure your profile and related comments are consistent with how you wish to present yourself with colleagues and clients.
- Respect all applicable laws including but not limited to laws relating to copyright, trade-marks, the protection of personal information or financial disclosure.
- Feel free to link internally within the Caretoknow.org site as many times as you would like.
Always avoid:
- Lengthy excerpts from other posts. We want to hear your own opinion.
- Racist, sexist and offensive language.
- When you are logged in, you may edit or delete your submissions at any time.
- Personal attacks and defamatory statements about any individual, professional or organization, regardless of whether they are part of the Caretoknow.org community.
- Breaking applicable laws including but not limited to laws relating to copyright, trade-marks, the protection of personal information or financial disclosure.
- Content that contains restricted or password only access pages, or hidden pages or images (those not linked to or from another accessible page)
- Citing or referencing clients, partners or suppliers without their approval. When you do make a reference, where possible link back to the source.
- Threats or suggesting committing a criminal act.
- Violating someone’s privacy or insensitive comments regarding the health of private individuals.
- Posting your message in all CAPS (this makes it difficult to read and in online culture is considered yelling).
If you violate any of these rules, then your comment will be removed and your account may be suspended.
How do I comment?
Comments are solicited at the bottom of most articles, stories, postings within groups and other Caretoknow.org content. You need to log in or register an account before commenting. You can create an account in our Registration section.
What about including personal and/or health information in comments?
Your username, which links to your Care To Know Centre profile, will appear with your comment, and we may use your name and city from your profile if we use your submission in other content areas. If additional information about yourself is relevant to your comment, please feel free to include it but be aware that you are disclosing this information publicly.
Do not to disclose to any person or entity personally identifiable information about others without their express consent. Please do not post any personal contact information such as email address, phone number or mailing address.
Do not make comments about any clients, family members or other professionals by name. If you have something positive to share, you can create a false name for the purpose of the comment or post.

How are comments moderated?
We reserve the right to review comments, content posts and forums and to remove any inappropriate submissions at our discretion.
We won’t edit or remove your comments unless they violate our submission guidelines or terms of use. We do ask that you follow these rules to create a thriving conversation.
What if I see a comment or post that I think is inappropriate or offensive?
If you think a comment violates our guidelines or terms of use, we count on our community to respond. If you feel someone has posted such content, click on the "Report as Inappropriate" link (the red flag button) found on the page and report the issue. We will investigate the complaint as quickly as possible.
How will you use my submissions?
Your submissions may be published on various parts of Caretoknow.org, and may even be included in other posts.
Saint Elizabeth Health Care has the right to reproduce, broadcast and publicize that content in accordance with the Terms of Use for CareToKnow.org.

What types of content are suitable for submission on Caretoknow.org?
We are dedicated to providing individuals & families, health care professionals, organizations and researchers with timely and relevant evidence-based health information. We have a focus on home and community care issues.
Individuals & Families – Connect and Share
Health care is about people. We are dedicated to harnessing the power of people, like you, your family and friends, and to connect and share those experiences to generate new ideas to improve health care experiences for us all. We want to know what you care to know, what ideas you have and how we can collectively transform and improve health care experiences. Rate and contribute what you find valuable for managing your health; share stories; subscribe to content from health professionals and researchers; access caregiver and chronic disease self-management resources; discuss and suggest ways to improve the patient experience. Health care is about more than just accessing information; it is about the quality and relevance of that information.
Organizations - Expand Your Reach
We are committed to creating a progressive, online community that allows you to promote your organizational initiatives. Creating and maintaining a profile for your organization, including posting about services, publications, resources or conferences/events, will raise awareness, promote opportunities to new audiences and help you make important connections with new professional partners. Connect to clients all over Canada; share resources and events; tap into community-generated information to gain insight into patient values, perspectives and needs that will help inform policy.
Professionals – Resources, Tools, Knowledge and Relationships
Share and exchange evidence-based knowledge; post your patient/client education resources; engage with colleagues; learn about patient/client stories, and apply them to improve practice at the point of care and honour the human face of health care. Participate in Groups, share useful resources like toolkits, presentations and video links, or create groups that will foster collaborative ideas to improve care delivery to your clients in new and innovative ways.
Researchers - Make Important Connections
The Care to Know Centre aims to create a dynamic, online knowledge exchange network that allows you to profile your work, post publicly accessible abstracts and/or scientific publications. Engage in knowledge translation, transfer and exchange; connect with other researchers with similar interests; reach broader stakeholders and the public; receive news about small and large-scale funding opportunities.
Including Personal and/or Health Information: Privacy Settings
By posting content on CareToKnow.org you are responsible for using the privacy settings in the form below to choose who can view your health information. You may post content as Public (available to anyone on the Internet), Logged In Users (only CareToKnow.org logged in members), Friends (only people in your CareToKnow.org network), or Private (only you can view it.)

What Types of Content Can I Contribute?
CareToKnow.org has been created to accommodate a wide variety of types of content about health care including:
Articles about health and health care written for academics, researchers, practitioners or families.
Events, such as notices for upcoming conferences and other events.
Forum Topics where you post content that is relevant to a specific discussion or group. Examples may include Rehabilitation Therapies for Children in Home and Community Care.
Groups where community members and colleagues can work and share together on the same topic.
Links to other external, useful sites with a focus on content that may benefit other users on topics of interest, such as caregiver support resources. Please include a brief description. The description should be complete and stand alone so that it adds value for those who decide not to follow the link.
News reports, especially those about major developments in home and community care.
Opportunities, including funding opportunities, job postings, postdoctoral and scholarship awards as well as calls for abstracts for upcoming conferences.
Program descriptions or additional supports that are designed to meet a social or health need. This would include for example, Meals on Wheels as a program and physiotherapy delivered in your home as a service.
Publications, including recommendations and links to for journal articles; abstracts; academic publications; organizational reports; policy discussion papers; presentations about health or health care prepared to be given to academics, researchers, practitioners or the public; fiction and non-fiction book reviews.
Resources, including toolkits, training modules and curriculum, fact sheets, brochures and other sources of information to support the delivery of home and community health care.
Stories from those who have experienced home and community health care first hand. This includes the experiences of families, clients, caregivers, friends, health care providers and volunteers that will help to guide and connect with others who may be going through a similar set of circumstances.

- Don’t provide others with confidential or proprietary information. Ask permission to publish or report on conversations that are meant to be private or internal to an organization or academic institution.
- Breaking copyright, fair use and financial disclosure laws. Piracy hurts creators, devalues their works, and puts you and your employer at risk.
- Content that contains restricted or password only access pages, or hidden pages or images (those not linked to or from another accessible page).
- Citing or referencing clients, partners or suppliers without their approval. When you do make a reference, where possible link back to the source.
- Posting spam, engaging in commercial activities and/or sales, using Caretoknow.org as a personal sales channel or direct selling.
In addition, all applicable COMMENT guidelines (above) also apply to all content contributions.
How will you use my submissions?
Saint Elizabeth Health Care has the right to reproduce, broadcast and publicize that content in accordance with the Terms of Use for CareToKnow.org.
We reserve the right to review comments, content posts and forums and to remove any inappropriate submissions at our discretion.
We reserve the right to identify you by username and city of residence when using your submissions (i.e. Jane Doe from Calgary says…).
